Dr. Tomisaku Kawasaki

1925-2020

We are deeply saddened by the passing of
Dr. Tomisaku Kawasaki, honorary chairman of the Japan Kawasaki Disease Research Center and special consultant of the Japanese Society of Kawasaki Disease.
Since encountering a first patient, whose cause was unknown,
Dr. Kawasaki collectively reported 50 patients in 1967,
and this disease is now known internationally as
“Kawasaki disease" after Dr. Kawasaki.
